I was a little hesitant when I first heard of making my own mayonnaise. I wasn’t too sure that I needed to! I went to every store looking to see if I could find the one jar of mayo that contained just 5 ingredients. Try as I might, I came up short. I was trying to avoid the thickening agents, food coloring, and sugars that are almost always found in the store bought mayo. So…I came home with the ingredients that I needed to make my own! I was surprised and amazed at how these five simple ingredients came together so perfectly! I am using a recipe that is similar to the one posted in my favorite Nom Nom Paleo Cookbook. I didn’t have pre-made mustard, so I used powder instead. Since I will be using this mayonnaise in other recipes as a binder, I didn’t add any salt or pepper. Feel free to add it if you will be using it as a spread.
[yumprint-recipe id=’6′] Between my VitaMix and my Cuisinart, clean up can be as easy as washing a cup and a few measuring spoons. The best part of it all…the Cuisinart was a White Elephant gift that my husband won last Christmas!!! Makes me wonder…have you ever ended up with an incredible White Elephant gift?
